Nash Finding Form Rolling Into "The Month Of Money"
Saturday night Allan Nash proved to be the fastest sprintcar driver for the night around the Perth Motorplex track with a 13.752 lap time, even though his start to the night was hampered with an ignition problem in Time Trials which put him off the front of both his heats.
Heat 1 saw Allan race away to the lead by half a lap on his competitors only to spin the car on the back straight and finish a gallant 6th. Talking to Nashie after his 1st heat to say he wasn’t disappointed would be an understatement. “As I came out of turn 2, I felt the car break loose and said to myself I’m going to spin it here and there wasn’t a thing I could do but to apply my brake a touch to keep it going so I could finish the race. Yeah I was disappointed but hey that’s racing, it happens.”
Nash was then a man on a mission in his 2nd heat and blew the field away once again proving to be too fast for his fellow competitors. With a 13.752 lap time, the only driver in this field tonight to do a 13 sec lap, you just couldn’t wipe the smile from his face.
Going into this meeting Nash wasn’t quite sure how his night would end up. After hurting his tough KRE motor at the Sprintcar Muster Nash had to put in his spare motor and was abit apprehensive to say the least. But as it turned out he need not have worried.
Going into the 25 lap feature Nash new it was not going to be easy. Having to start from position 15 with many a great driver in front of him and the track even though it fast it was going to be tough, but not so for the 51 car.
Early in the race Nash started to make his move, preying on and passing the likes of Monte, Sartori and finally Maiolo which saw him finish 6th overall. What an awesome drive by the AN Trucking/ Sidchrome 51 car.
In his own words “Mate the boys had this car setup perfectly tonight for the feature, I could put it anywhere on the track and she would keep going forward. If only we had another 10 laps and some yellows I’m pretty confident we could have gotten a podium finish. ‘But that’s the way racing goes and I’m still proud to finish 6th especially after a bad start to the night and having to start from 15 in the feature.”
So is Nash finally back in form?? After watching him last night in the feature...Yeah he’s back.
